Sopore Police on Wednesday arrested five more miscreants during ongoing night raids in connection with recent incidents of vandalism during student protests in the town, officials said.

According to officials, efforts are underway to apprehend all those involved in disturbing public order.
Earlier, police had arrested eight individuals for their alleged involvement in vandalism during the protests, while 25 others were identified for their role in disrupting law and order.
The action follows incidents in which several vehicles belonging to locals, staff members and journalists were damaged, and some school property was also targeted by miscreants, officials said.
Police have initiated strict action against those involved in unlawful activities, including damage to property, and reiterated that no one will be allowed to disturb peace and order in the area.
Authorities also urged the public, especially youth, to maintain calm and avoid activities that could lead to legal action, stating that the situation is being closely monitored.
Tensions had earlier erupted at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore after students alleged that a senior lecturer had assaulted a classmate, triggering protests within the campus.
Following the unrest, police registered an FIR against the accused teacher, while the Directorate of School Education Kashmir placed him under suspension pending inquiry. (KNC)
