Budgam, June 10 :

A wave of fear swept through Kandajan village in Chairchreef area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district after a pack of stray dogs attacked residents, leaving at least ten people injured, including several children.

Eyewitnesses told the news agency that the dogs were freely roaming through the lanes of the village when they suddenly pounced on unsuspecting locals, sparking chaos and panic. “It was a horrifying scene, people were screaming, running for cover as the dogs kept attacking,” said a local.

Health officials confirmed that among the injured, five children sustained moderate wounds and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. “The condition of all the injured is stable,” said the Block Medical Officer, Chairchreef.

“These attacks are becoming frequent, but no action is being taken. Are we waiting for a tragedy before the authorities wake up?” questioned a visibly angry parent of one of the injured children.

Locals have appealed to the district administration and municipal authorities to immediately launch a sterilization and relocation drive to ensure public safety before the situation worsens further.
