Srinagar August 09, 2023: As part of celebrations of “Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav” under the theme “Mere Matti Mera Desh” State Taxes Department Kashmir as part of its programme w.e.f. 01-08-2023 to 15-08-2023 under the guidance of Commissioner State Taxes/Administrative Secretary Mining Department, Dr. Rashmi Singh, IAS, today organized a thought-provoking street play/skit at Poloview Market Srinagar, focusing on the theme of “Responsible Taxation and Sustainable Development.”
The primary message of the skit was to shed light on the critical issue of tax evasion and detrimental effects of haphazard mining on the environment. Interacting with the media on the occasion, Dr. Rashmi Singh, said that, ”the State Taxes Department J&K remains committed to ensuring tax compliance, sustainable mining and safeguarding the environment for the present and future generations.
Events like these contribute to a greater understanding of the complex interplay between taxation, mining, and environmental sustainability, she added further.”
Interacting with the media on the occasion, Additional Commissioner State Taxes Kashmir, Shakeel Maqbool (ICAS) said that, “the street play/skit and other was primarily meant to create awareness among the public about the importance of tax compliance in supporting sustainable mining practices and environmental protection.”

Spectators applauded the State Taxes Department for their innovative approach in raising awareness about these pressing issues.
