Social Welfare Department Baramulla organized series of activities including picnic and awareness program

BARAMULLA , AUGUST 21: While observing “World Senior Citizens Day” Social Welfare Department Baramulla conducted series of activities in Baramulla on Sunday inwhich senior citizens of Baramulla district participated.


Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraf, inaugurated the program by flagging off the tour bus of the senior citizens from Dak Banglow Baramulla.


The senior citizens were also taken out for a picnic in famous Eco Park where they spent time together and also interacted with each other to share their love and experiences.


Theme centric singing lectures and poetic programs were also organised for them.
They were also made aware about the schemes and helpline numbers  available for them.


Medical camp was also organized by the Health Department for the Senior citizens.
The ADDC Baramulla expressed his gratitude for the Senior citizens for ensuring their presence in the program.

He emphasized on the need for organising such initiatives for Senior Citizens. The ADDC mentioned the importance of the experience of the Senior Citizens.

The ADDC listened to the demands of the Senior citizens and ensured them that the action will be taken regarding the demands.

District Social Welfare Officer Nissar Ahmad Wani said that department is having various schemes for senior citizens, old age man and women which are specifically meant for senior citizens.

Our department wants to put the across message that senior citizens are assets of society and they are not liability so we need cash the assets,” he added.

Central Administrator One Stop Center District Baramulla Bushra Beidar while conducting the proceedings of program said, ‘ Spend time with your parents and grandparents. Make them feel that they are special by cooking delicacies for them.Little gestures can bring a smile to their face.”

“Help them complete their chores if your grandparents live distant from you, spare some time to visit them,” said she added.

Senior citizens include some renowned artists,poets who enthralled the audience with their unique talent and poetry.
