Jammu, Jun 8 :

A teacher in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district faced suspension for allegedly “disseminating confidential information and criticizing government policies.” The incident involved Grade-II teacher Fiaz Ahmed, who highlighted the dilapidated conditions of his remote Government Middle School Draman by sharing a video that went viral on social media this week.

In the video, Ahmed described the school’s shabby accommodation, the lurking threat to the lives of minor students, and the inadequate staff to manage eight classes. Chief Education Officer Prakash Lal Thappa confirmed his suspension, stating that a detailed project report (DPR) for the school’s repair has been requested from the Public Works Department.

Thappa emphasized that the viral video was taken seriously by the department. Ahmed was accused of not resisting the entry of an unauthorized person into the premises and disseminating confidential information while criticizing government policies like ‘Digital India’ and education policies. His explanation was deemed ‘not satisfactory,’ leading to his immediate suspension pending an inquiry by a two-member committee.(PTI)
