Slain militants involved in killing Khonmoh Sarpanch: IGP

Srinagar, Apr 06 :

Two militants have been killed in an encounter in Arigam village of Tral area in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, officials said on Wednesday.

Kashmir Zone police while quoting Inspector General of Police said that a militant of Ansar Gazwat ul Hind, Safat Manzoor sofi@Muavia and a militant of LeT Umer Teli @Talha were killed in Tral encounter.

Slain militants were involved in several incidents including the killing of Sarpanch Sameer Ahmad from Khonmoh. “AGuH militant Safat Muzzaffar Sofi @ Muavia and LeT’s militant Umer Teli @ Talha killed in #Tral.

Before shifting to Tral area both were involved in several #terror crimes in #Srinagar city including recent killing of Sarpanch (Sameer Ahmad) in Khanmoh Srinagar: IGP Kashmir.” Kashmir Police zone tweeted.

Earlier, an official told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on specific information about the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight—(KNO)
