In a major boost to rail connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, the Vande Bharat Express linking Jammu and Srinagar is being flagged off today from Jammu Tawi Railway Station by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
As per details available with news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the high-speed train is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Jammu and Srinagar to nearly five hours, offering faster, safer, and more comfortable travel for passengers.
Along with union minister, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and MoS Dr Jitendra Singh will also be present on the occasion.
Officials said elaborate arrangements have been put in place at Jammu Tawi Railway Station for the flag-off ceremony, with final preparations completed amid heightened enthusiasm among railway authorities and commuters.
The introduction of the Vande Bharat Express is being seen as a landmark step in strengthening transportation infrastructure in the Union Territory, enhancing connectivity, boosting tourism, and improving overall accessibility between the Jammu and Kashmir regions. (KNC)
