SRINAGAR, MAY 31,

Seven members of a family including a female journalist even after testing negative, both in rapid and RTPCR format were shown positive to Covid-19 in the records of the Nodal Officer Pandemic in Kashmir capital Srinagar.

Concerned over the state of affairs in the NO’s Office, the lady journalist approached the Chief Medical Officer and narrated her ordeal. On checking with the testing teams, the CMO too confirmed all the seven persons including the female scribe negative to the virus. In fact, he issued a certificate in this regard too.

“On producing the report to the Nodal Officer, the officials didn’t budge and insert corrections in their records. The Nodal Officer also refused to listen to the logic and warned the journalist to stay put in home quarantine and follow the procedures,” one of the members of the Srinagar family told news agency Kashmir News Trust.

He said they are in a fix. “Now the dilemma with all the seven members is whether they are positive or negative to the virus and which of the two agencies they will believe”.

“If this can happen to conscious and responsible citizens, we can easily imagine the plight of people living in the remote and rural areas”, wondered the female journalist.

The female journalist is contemplating to take up the issue with the higher authorities for course correction as according to her ‘the attitude of the officials in the nodal agency amounts to harassment of the law-abiding citizens.’ (KNT)
