Sopore, August 13, 2026:
Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Nalin Prabhat, accompanied by IGP Kashmir Shri V.K. Birdi, visited Sopore today and held a detailed operational review of ongoing counter-terrorism operations and security arrangements in Police Districts Baramulla and Sopore ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
During the visit, the DGP reviewed deployment, area domination and checking measures being undertaken in the run-up to 15 August. He directed field officers to maintain heightened vigilance and ensure robust security arrangements while minimising inconvenience to the general public.
DIG NKR Shri Vinod Kumar, SSP Baramulla Shri Gurinderpal Singh and SSP Sopore Shri Iftkhar Talib were present during the operational review and field inspection of security arrangements.
The DGP also emphasised close coordination among all security agencies to ensure peaceful and secure conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.
