BJP Legislators Stage Walkout Amid Slogans and Protests; House Adjourned After Completion of Listed Business
Srinagar, September 28 :
The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Monday adopted a resolution urging the Government of India to restore full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah moved the resolution during the proceedings of the House. The resolution refers to earlier Assembly resolutions passed on June 26, 2000, and November 6, 2024, and seeks renewed action for the restoration of statehood.
Through the resolution, the House called upon the Government of India to undertake the process for the “immediate and urgent restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.” It also provides for forwarding the resolution to the Government of India.
The proceedings witnessed disruption as BJP legislators raised objections and staged a walkout amid slogans and protests in the Assembly.
Following the completion of the scheduled business, the Speaker adjourned the House. The Legislative Assembly is scheduled to reconvene on Tuesday.(KNC)
