SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30:
The Legislative Assembly will take up the issue of acute shortage and non-availability of essential construction materials across Jammu and Kashmir for detailed discussion in its next session, following concerns raised by several members during the concluding proceedings of the House.
The Speaker said that the issue had been raised by a number of members, who sought an opportunity to deliberate upon the difficulties arising from the shortage of essential construction materials and its impact on developmental and construction-related activities across the Union Territory.
Acknowledging the seriousness of the matter, Speaker Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather said that the issue would be taken up for a detailed discussion in the next session, providing members an opportunity to deliberate upon the challenges and suggest appropriate measures.
In the meantime, the Speaker said, the government can take necessary corrective measures to address the shortage and ensure the availability of essential construction materials across Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, legislators Javid Hassan Baig, Saifuddin Bhat, Ajaz Ahmad Jan, Hilal Akbar Lone, Rajeev Jasrotia spoke on the issue and highlighted shortage of construction material in their respective areas.
