BANDIPORA, AUG 10 :
Bandipora Police have arrested two persons in connection with the alleged kidnapping and rape of a minor girl, officials said on Sunday.
According to officials, the matter came to light after the family of the minor lodged a complaint with the local police, following which an FIR was registered and an investigation was initiated.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, police conducted overnight raids at multiple locations and apprehended both accused persons, a police official said.
The official said that the investigation is currently underway and that all necessary legal procedures are being followed.
The victim has been referred for medical examination, while her statement is expected to be recorded before a Magistrate under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Police said that strict legal action will be taken against the accused in accordance with the law and assured that the investigation would be conducted in a fair and time-bound manner.
