Baramulla, July 15, 2026:

In a major crackdown on illegal sand mining, Baramulla Police today launched a comprehensive enforcement drive in the Jetty–Jhuhama–Chakloo area along the embankments of River Jhelum. The operation was led by DySP Headquarters Baramulla, SHO Police Station Baramulla and DO Delina, in coordination with the Flood Control Department.

The drive targeted individuals engaged in the illegal extraction of sand from the riverbed. During the operation, Police seized 10 boats, 04 water pumps, 02 dredgers and 01 boat pusher used in the unlawful mining activity. All seized equipment has been taken into custody, and legal proceedings under the relevant provisions of law have been initiated.

Baramulla Police reiterates its firm commitment to safeguarding natural resources and enforcing mining regulations. Such sustained enforcement drives will continue across the district, and strict legal action will be taken against anyone found involved in illegal mining.
