Srinagar, July 19:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu & Kashmir has postponed its proposed Secretariat Gherao March at Lal Chowk, Srinagar, which was scheduled to be held on July 20, 2026, in view of the devastating flood situation in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch.

According to the party, the decision was taken as heavy rains, flash floods, and the resulting loss of lives and property have severely affected the twin districts, prompting the BJP to defer the planned protest.

The party stated that a new date for the Secretariat Gherao March will be announced shortly after assessing the prevailing situation.

The BJP also expressed concern over the humanitarian crisis caused by the floods and emphasized that relief and rehabilitation efforts should remain the immediate priority during this difficult period.(KNC)
