Party Says Remarks by Certain Individuals Do Not Reflect BJP’s Ideology; Stresses Respectful Political Discourse and Women Empowerment

SRINAGAR, Aug 6 :

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit on Thursday categorically distanced itself from objectionable slogans allegedly raised by some individuals during a public rally held at Housing Colony in Anantnag, asserting that such remarks neither represent the party’s ideology nor its official position.

Issuing a clarification, the party reiterated its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the dignity and honour of women while emphasizing that it does not support or endorse any defamatory, offensive, or derogatory statements against any individual.

BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said the party has consistently worked towards the empowerment of women, highlighting that the provision of 33 per cent reservation for women stands as a reflection of the BJP-led government’s commitment to ensuring greater participation of women in public life.

He maintained that the controversial slogans reportedly raised by a few individuals should not be linked to the BJP as an organisation, stating that the party neither encourages nor approves of any language that undermines democratic values or personal dignity.

Thakur further said the BJP remains firmly committed to maintaining political decorum, promoting issue-based politics, and strengthening the role of women in governance and public affairs. He added that the party’s policies and public conduct continue to be guided by the principles of democracy, constitutional values, mutual respect, and responsible political engagement.

The BJP also reaffirmed its support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of women-led development and empowerment, stating that respect for women remains a core principle of the party’s ideology and governance agenda. (KNC)
