Srinagar, June 13th :
Six IPS officers belonging to the AGMUT cadre have been empanelled for promotion to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP), paving the way for their appointment to the highest positions in the police hierarchy.
Among those empanelled are three officers with extensive experience in Jammu and Kashmir. S.D. Singh Jamwal, currently heading the Arunachal Pradesh Police as DGP, has earlier served in several key security roles in J&K and also led the police force in Ladakh.
S.S. Khandare, known for his expertise in internal and border security, served as the first police chief of the Union Territory of Ladakh and previously held the position of IG Prisons in Jammu and Kashmir.
Rajesh Kumar (Yadav), who is presently serving as Special Director General of the CRPF for the J&K Zone, has a long association with security operations in the Union Territory and has also served as IGP Jammu.
The empanelment is considered an important professional achievement and makes the officers eligible for appointment to DGP-level posts across the country.
