In a major breakthrough Baramulla Police arrested 4 drug peddlers; and recovered 1.17 kgs of Contraband Brown Sugar like substance alongwith cash Rs.25.39 Lacs from Kamalkote Uri.

Today based on a specific information regarding smuggling of narcotics in the area of Kamalkote Uri, A special naka was laid by Baramulla Police led by PSI Shubham Seth, IC PP Kamalkote at Sultan Daki Kali Mitti under the overall supervision of Sh. Shokat Ali-JKPS, SDPO Uri. During naka checking a vehicle Tata Sumo bearing regd. No. JK05D-3680 on its way from Kamalkote towards Uri was signalled to stop for checking, but the said vehicle did not stopped instead tried to flee away from the spot. The vehicle was tactfully stopped by alert Police Party of naka in which four persons were boarded.
During search of the said vehicle, cash amounting to Rupees Twenty Five Lacs & Thirty Nine Thousand only (INR 25, 39,000/-) and 1.17 kgs of contraband substance like Brown Sugar like was recovered from the said vehicle. The instant vehicle was also seized.
All the four persons including driver of the vehicle was arrested who were identified as:- 1. Naseer Ahmad Bhatti S/O Nazar Din Bhatti R/O Madiyan Kamalkote Uri, 2. Reyaz Ahmad Khanday S/O Mohd Sharief Khanday R/O Madiyan Kamalkote Uri, 3. Fayaz Ahmad Khanday S/O Mohd Sharief Khanday R/O Madiyan Kamalkote Uri & 4. Mohd Pazeer S/O Abdul Majeed Khanday R/O Madiyan Kamalkote Uri
To this effect case FIR No. 12/2023 u/s 8/21, 29 NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Uri and investigation set in motion.
During preliminarily investigation it was learnt that under a well hatched conspiracy, Pakistan based handlers are pushing drugs inside JK through such smugglers to spread drug addiction amongst youth of JK.
Further investigation into the matter is on.
